As you are warming up to any new dance in life, it often comes with uneasiness.
It’s helpful to stay in your body, and not allow the mind to carry you away.
To find more clarity and focus, whether you’re moving on the dance floor, driving in the car, doing the dishes, or getting ready for an important event, at any moment you can choose where you want to direct your energy.
Remember energy flows where focus goes.
Scan for sensation in your physical body. Ask yourself,
Am I feeling expanded or contracted?
How’s my posture?
Am I exerting effort in the right places?
Am I allowing space, breathing from my belly?
Where am I holding tension?
Where is your focus?
Are your eyes looking down, or are you keeping your sights on where you want to go?
Are you forcing or allowing?
Where can you exert more or less energy and better utilize your environment?
Is there a better, more efficient way to move?
Adjust your form when and where necessary.
What’s working and what needs to change to optimize your energy output?
The more you practice attuning your body, the sooner you'll be feeling more relaxed. It will quickly become second nature. Before you know it, you'll be creating more ease and flow in your life without even having to think about it.
